Joomla Plugin: Curvaceous
Curvaceous is a plug-in (formerly known as a "mambot") for Joomla, a popular, free open-source content-management system (CMS).The plug-in is a visual component that detects the background color of your images. If an image has an irregular contour, such as the flower in the Curvaceous logo to the right, the Curvaceous makes the surrounding text flow nicely around the contour.
Get the plug-in here: plugin_curvaceous-1.1.2.zip. Note: please do not host this plug-in on your own site, but feel free to link to this blog entry.
This is the official home of the Curvaceous plug-in. Please use the comments for support and suggestions.
Installation Instructions
- Install the plug-in via Joomla's mambot installer by browsing to the Curvaceous zip file that you downloaded, and press the "Upload and install" button.
- Go to the site mambots menu, and publish the mambot.
- If you want to, you may configure the Curvaceous parameters by clicking the Curvaceous plug-in in the site mambots list. The margin specifies the margin (in pixels) between text above and below the image. The sandbagMargin specifies the margin (in pixels) between the text to the left or to the right of the image. The sandbagHeight specifies the height of the horizontal bars used to divide the picture into rows of different widths according to how much background color each row contains to the left or to the right of the image. You probably don't need to tweak this setting unless you're using very small or very large text.
- Insert the image as a MosImage. Consult your Joomla documentation on how to do that.
- Replace the {mosimage} tags in your content with {curveimage}, and left-aligned or right-aligned images with transparent backgrounds will have the text flowing around them.

I have this when I click to download. What have I done wrong?
I am signed in or I couldnt leave this comment but it wont let me download the plugin!
thanks for download
no funciona la descarga
went through hoops to get logged in here from the Joomla extensions site, only to find that the file is still unavailable as both phichit said in their comments.
Looks like something I could use.. Wish I could get it.
Just a quick note to let you know I'm not ignoring you: I'll try to see if I can find a work-around shortly. I've been rather hung up with work the last several weeks, and it wasn't until recently that the bug appeared to be affecting anyone but a few unfortunate users.
Can't download the plugin... But if I could... Would it work with 1.5?? Guess it doesn't matter if I can't download it. :(
that's suck even logged the download doesn't work
So - is this just another scam to collect my email address? It's now november - same problem - can't download - tells me to log in
Logged-in as well but can't download.
Another eager potential user who can't download. I dealt with Movable Type a few years ago and this is exactly why I dumped it. Customer service is not only non-existent, it's obnoxious "this is free so it doesn't have to be good-- or even work." Please get this site fixed or take the damn thing down!
I also have the same problem downloading the plug-in. I've even tried mailing you, but it didn't work either:
Remote host said: 554 5.4.0 Error: too many hops
Could you please fix this, I'd really really like to try your curvaceous plugin.
I have created an account but still cannot download. Also is there going to be a Joomla 1.5 version released?
Thanks
STILL can't download
Alan: I know, and there's a reason for my down-prioritizing this plug-in.
When I learned that Joomla wouldn't provide ACL for version 1.5, I got very disappointed with this CMS, and all of my efforts with Joomla plug-ins have been down-prioritized. I haven't forgotten about the plug-in, but barring security-critical updates the plug-in will not be updated until Joomla 2 (if, and only if, Joomla 2 provides ACL; if not, I'll probably abandon Joomla altogether and choose another CMS). This doesn't mean I won't eventually get around to finding another way to provide the plug-in for download for those unfortunate few that can't download; however, at the moment it is way down in my priority list.
I know the plug-in is available from other sources; you may have luck finding it via Google.
da.phreak: the emailing problem turned out to be a problem with my domain provider. The email should work now.
